Low Hash Rate On 2 Cards (RX580-8Gb)

Ive had my rig running for the past month, and the hash rate that im getting is around 172. im getting around 29 hash for most of my cards, but 2 of my cards are giving me between 24-26. its not that big of issue, as my rig is stable, but im just wondering what it could be, as each card has been flashed

are the USB cables for PCI-e risers on 16x to 1x interchangeable?

I'm asking about the cables in blue, white, red, those alone, and not the small pcb that you connect to pcie slots.

Hi
After Claymore Eth miner ran for 2 days, I got the following error and the system rebooted. I got this error earlier also.

First it says : Got incorrect temperature 511, ignore
Then : WATCHDOG: GPU 3 hangs in OpenCL call, exit
Lastly : OC v7, Reset control for GPU 0, close miner right now if you want to use default control from Catalyst

Can you please suggest what is needed to be done to resolve this. ?
I have stock settings, no overclocking or undervolting etc.

Thanks in advance!
Gurpreet

Hi,

I am trying to setup a 6 GPU Rig. I am using ROG STRIX B250F GAMING motherboard. I have been successful in connecting 4 RX 480 8gb OC Sapphire onto it. But as soon as i go over that, it starts showing errors.

Has anyone been using this board . I was facing Code 12 issue earlier. then driver crashed.

Specs

ROG STRIX B250F GAMING
Sapphire RX 480 OC 8GB (4 as of now, want to connect 6)
8GB DDR4
G4400 3.3 GHz Dual Core CPU
Win 10 Pro 64 bit

Please suggest what should i do to get all 6 GPU working.

Regards
Chirash

RX 580: Get LOTS of incorrect shares but no memory errors

I have a problem with the 5th rig i build.

It is running 6x Gigabyte RX580 8 GB cards, they have one-step-modded bioses, i tuned each card individually with OverdriveNTool and have Hwinfo64 running and showing no (or VERY little) memory errors. It's running Claymore (10.3 at first, 11.0 now) and except for the GPUs it's an identical setup as the first 4 rigs (the first rigs have XFX cards).

Eventhough i get no memory errors, 3 gpus keep getting a mayor amount of invalid shares. It are the same gpus all the time (gpu0, 3 and 5). I changed risers and the problem remains. It seems like the longer the rig runs, the more invalid shares it gets.

How can it be that i keep on receiving invalid shares while the gpus have no memory errors? What am i missing?

Hi Everyone

Firstly - Just want to say this forum is by far the most informative and most helpful I've come across... and I feel bad I've recently opened a few discussions for help that I needed but I've not really had the time to give any help back to others so I will from today try to be more interactive as well. I do however try to keep all my discussions updated with latest resolution in case someone else with the same issue does land on it

Before I dive right into the problem, I want to make this thread as in-depth as possible because from searching day & night on the net I've seen a lot of people are having a similar issue and struggling to find a solution. Hopefully, this will give me best chance at finding a solution and helping others.

***THE PROBLEM***
I started with Simplemining.net (smOS) as my preferred OS. I could get 3 GPUs detected and start mining perfectly but after a short time (10min-5hrs) I would see one GPU stop hashing. It can be any GPU, on any slot at any time. I then changed all my risers to the new Ver 008S risers and managed to get 5 GPUs detected but the problem was still there, one random GPU would hang (any gpu, any slot, any time).

When a GPU stops hashing, the others continue for a while but after a minute or two the miner reloads and the GPU starts hashing again. Then it will hang again or another might hang... and sometimes 2 can hang and the third might drop from 26Mh/s to something like 15...8...1Mhs and then the whole system would reboot. Sometimes it might force a reboot straight after the first GPU hanging as well. It's very random.

I have since tried HiveOS and Perfectmining.io but all three give the same issue - I then assumed it was an Ubuntu issue as some said changing to Windows resolved it for them. I also took the time to open all my GPUs and clean them.. cleaned the board, the fan, intercooler and heatsink & I applied new thermal paste.

Yesterday installed Windows 10 Pro, updated it and then switched off further updates. I installed the Adrenaline drivers from AMD (Latest AMDGPU Pro) and began hashing on all 5 GPUs using Claymore V10.2 but the same thing started to happen. I then downloaded Claymore V11.1 and again, the same thing was happening.

If I noticed that GPU2 for example would hang like 3x in a row, I would shut down; disconnect GPU2 and then reboot but then it would be another GPU that hangs, eventually I'd be left with 1 GPU connected and still it can hang randomly.

This morning I've uninstalled the latest AMD drivers using DDU and then installed the 15.12 drivers as recommended on a lot of sites for older cards. I noticed fan control conflicts with miner, msi afterburner and amd overdrive so I disabled amd overdrive and added -tt 1 to the miner config, this has resolved fan control issues.

I've tried again with Claymore V11.1 but it hanged pretty much straight away with just 1 GPU connected. So I'm currently testing with Claymore V10.0 and with 1 GPU connected it is so far running for about an hour (Dual Mining ETH + DCR)... Eth = 42shares so far + DCR = 40 shares so far with 1 rejection on DCR and 0 on Eth. - I'm thinking to let this run overnight before considering connecting a 2nd GPU. It's currently 3:30pm here so that would be a decent 15hr test I think, which would be the lost i've managed to get it to run lol.

Some people suggest clocking back or reflashing GPU bios but all my GPU's are showing STOCK OC on MSI, I did not OC any of them and I haven't messed with flashing any GPU bios. I also don't believe previous owners would have flashed them because from what I've read online there is no point doing that with the R9's.

I've been having this problem for about 5-6 weeks now and I don't know what else I can try. I checked my PSU's and with 5 cards connected they are taking 550w + 740w from the wall. Well under the 1000w capacity but anyway the problem happens with even 1-2 GPUs connected so it's not a PSU issue.

Can someone please help me and guide me through how to find the problem and rectify it? :disappointed:

How is this possible? I thought the reported hashrate represented the best case scenario.

In that case what is the highest calculated hashrate possible? Can this be calculated?

Mining rig help!!

So I built a multi gpu mining rig using older gaming cards bought used. I have 2 r9 290xs, a r9 290 and an r9 390. Running on an msi z170a with an i5 6500t , 8gb ram, with a 750 and 1200w psu. Had slight stability issue but had it running nice. Rebooting ever other day for the last week. So one morning I wake up and see that windows had frozen. Did a reboot and my 290 had an opencl error couldn’t write dag for buffer. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything, switching risers, virtual memory is fine. Even by itself when the card tries to mine I get that error or the system crashes and I check event log and it says there was a bug check and memory dump but I have no idea how to check the memory dump. The card shows up in device manager, afterburner, gpu-z and claymore. It is running and fine until under load. Shouldn’t be a psu issue as it was running fine for weeks. Have tried lidag gser and eres commands with no luck. Best I got was after freshly installing it was mining for maybe one minute with all four cards before crashing and getting same error or crash. Getting another 290x and brand new 1080ti tomorrow to add so will do more tests. Any ideas? I know there’s a good chance the card is bad but it’s running fine until under load?

System runs fine with all four cards in but only the other 3 mining. Stable for 12+ hrs

I have the registry tweaks and a few other windows ten tips but any advice on stability is welcome too.

Rig shutting down after few hours, worked great for months

I have a 13 GPU rig that has worked good for months now in my home office. Rig Specs:

7 x 1070 TI EVGA SC mining ZEC. CHIP OC 200 MHZ, MEMORY OC 700 MHZ
6 x RX580 SAPPHIRE NITRO+ 8GB mining ETH. BIOS mod.
2 x 1000W EVGA Gold rated PSU
2 x 750W EVGA Gold rated PSU
Asus Mining Expert MB w/ 512 SSD and 8 GB DDR4
Windows 10

I have two APC UPS backups connected to this rig. Each UPS is rated up to 865W. I have the PSUs paired in two groups with a 1000W + 750W powering the Nvidia cards and a 1000W + 750W powering the AMD cards. The Nvidia cards and system is using about 865 watts and the AMD cards are also using about 865 watts.

Earlier today I noticed the LED of the UPS powering the Nvidia cards come on and a timer below showing how many minutes were left indicating power loss. The minutes kept increasing and I realized the cards were not drawing as much power. I could not RDP into the rig and Claymore Manager confirmed that the AMD cards were also offline. The fans of the AMD cards were still spinning but the fans of the Nvidia cards stopped spinning. All case fans and CPU fans were spinning. After about a minute the rig shutdown on its own.

I turned the rig back on and it was able to mine again for about 2 hours before the same process repeated. I turned it on again and this time reduced the CHIP OC of the Nvidia cards to 150 MHZ and the memory down to 650 MHZ. However as mentioned above the rig was working fine for months with the higher overclocks. Reducing the values did not impact performance much with the ZEC miner so I might do this with my other rigs to reduce stress on the cards.

Another thing I did this time was disable ECO mode on all the power supplies (stabbing in the dark, not sure if that is the culprit). There is an ECO switch on each PSU. If it is set to on the PSU fan will not come on until the temperature of the PSU has reached I believe 55 C.

So far the system has been running fine for about 1/2 hour since these changes but only time will tell.

Anyone have an idea why the rig is displaying this behavior? I looked at System Events but really could not figure out what the reason was for the crash and eventual shutdown since a monitor is not hoked up to the system. Temperatures appear to be fine in the room and the cards are not running hot.

Bricked my 480 cards with ATIFLASH... ERROR: 0FL01

Hey all. Tried flashing my XFX 480 8GB reference card and Gigabyte 480 8GB reference card with boysie's low power rom from this thread: https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/9400/boysies-rx480-ref-bios-29mh-low-pwr-eth-or-dual-mining#latest

I backuped my roms with GPU-Z, then went into atiflash and ran:
atiflash.exe -f -p 1 low-pwr-29MH-Boysie
0 is a non-reference XFX 480 card, 1 and 2 are the reference cards.

I only flashed card #1 (which is the number 2 card on my motherboard, and it is the XFX 480 8GB card), rebooted, went and did atiflash -i and saw card #2 and #3 is bricked. I don't know how 2 cards managed to brick when I only ran the atiflash command on #1 card.

Tried unlocking the rom to flash my backup roms, no luck. Here's a screenshot:

I've tried flashing the bricked cards with my backup (xfx backup, but i still tried the gigabyte one but same results) and a bios that I got from techpowerup (https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/184552/xfx-rx480-8192-160614-1)

Any help in saving my cards, is appreciated.

edit: Interestingly enough, Device Manager still detects my cards, and I can still mine with these 3 cards. So my case is different from all the other bricked users I found on Google. Very strange.

What is DIG Coin and why is it unique and trustworthy?

DIG Coin was developed to reduce overall mining costs. This includes the costs of cloud mining contracts and cloud mining hardware. The monetary units raised through the DIG Coin ICO will fund the creation of a new globally competitive cloud mining company called Digital Excavators™.

By utilizing ICO proceeds for development of the first Digital Excavators™ cloud mining farm, we will be able to provide unprecedented rates to our customers. This in turn will trigger competition in the market driving global cost savings with other leading cloud mining vendors. The initial market value of DIG Coin will be guaranteed at $0.50 (or market value, if higher), and there will be an additional 20% discount on cloud mining contracts through Digital Excavators™ for those who have purchased the coin through our ICO.

DIG Coin DIG was created to provide reasonable rates for those engaging in cloud mining contracts. The creation of a fund to offer these unprecedented rates to cloud miners was put up by building digital excavators.

There are several ways from which users can make money by owning DIG Coin. One is through the platform’s lending program where an investor can earn passive income. To do so, one needs to purchase DIG Coins during the ICO or when they hit the exchange!

Claymore DevFee couldn't connect to stratum, restarts miner, complains not enough GPU memory DAG

Claymore 11.0 on Linux

I have:
2x Sapphire Nitro+ AMDGPU Pro RX580 4GB
1x ASUS Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB

Mining with Claymore 11.0 is working fine .. but every now and then .. when the DevFee thread is started ... sometimes ( not all the time ), the thread for the DevFee could not connect to the mining pool ( e.g. asia1.ethermine.org ).

This causes Claymore to forcibly restart the whole thing, and then complains of "not enough GPU memory to place DAG," on the two RX580 4GB .. which, I believe is a bug in the Claymore miner ... because it started fine in the first place with those 3 GPUs. Of course, if I hit Ctrl-C, and then start it again from the command-line, everything is fine.

So what I think is happening ( just a guess ), is that, when it decided to restart ,it did not clear the memory that it was using in the GPU so that it is allocating twice the amount already, exceeding the 4GB of the GPU.

I repeat, this only happens when either of the following is true:
1) DevFee thread could not connect to the pool .. OR ..
2) Non-DevFee thread lost connection to the mining pool

and in both cases, Claymore 11.0 restarts ( without clearing the currently allocated memory in the GPU ... which is my guess ).

Anyone else with 4GB GPUs experiencing this when connection is lost / DevFee thread could not connect ?
