NEW - Mining software comparison website Wheretomine.com

Hello, everyone. I would like to share with you my new pet project wheretomine.com. On 2nd of July I started mining with five different mining providers on five identical rigs all at the same time. The rigs are identical, including the graphics drivers. The goal is to provide a public comparison index for different mining solutions. After minimum available amount for withdrawal is reached on the provider with the highest withdraw threshold, I withdraw BTC from all the providers to my external BTC addresses. Each mining provider is linked to its own withdraw address which provides transparency and proof of mining. I will update my table once every two weeks.

UPDATE: On the 3rd of August I added a sixth mining rig to the benchmark list.

Rig specs:
GPU 1 (primary): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
GPU 2: NVIDIA GeForce GTX1070 Ti
CPU: Low-end Intel CPU
Memory: 8 GB
OS: WINDOWS 10 PRO

Feel free to give me feedback on what you think about the project. Donations are more than welcome as I will reinvest the funds into new test mining rigs. This will enable me to add additional providers to the benchmark list.

What restrictions are placed on the header by ASICs?

What restrictions does mining hardware place on the Bitcoin block header?

Can you give mining hardware any 80 byte header and it will search it (updating the 4 nonce bytes and maybe the timestamp)?

Does the version field have to be positive?

Does the difficulty target have to be a reasonable value?

Does the previous hash have to have at least 32 zeros?

Does the merkle root have to encode at least a coinbase for the extraNonce?

Hi i was just wondering if mining will also be affected on the month of August.

Introducing ZAGG Protocol

Businesses around the world strive for consumer stickiness through multiple customer engagement programs like Gift Cards, Employee Benefits, Rewards & Loyalty (GBRL) and in turn, improve profitability. However, the current engagement programs are mostly broken with poor ROI.
With years of experience in the GBRL industry, our team has stepped in to solve the inefficiencies in the industry using Blockchain technology.
ZAGG Protocol is founded by Raj N. Phani, a serial entrepreneur who has built successful businesses in the fields of Prepaid Payments, Internet, Retail and Brand Merchandising.
Raj has also founded Zaggle, one of India’s biggest Digital Payments, Cashback and Analytics company. With nearly a decade of experience in the industry, Zaggle sees a turnover of around USD 100 Million. With over 2.5 million users and a million cards in the market, Zaggle has tie-ups with over 6500 merchants from across India.
ZAGG Protocol is on its way to reform and reorganise the current customer engagement ecosystem by developing a next-generation, ready to use, one-stop custom blockchain platform for businesses to engage their customers more effectively and at an affordable cost. This facilitates the conversion and exchange of value within the members of the network.
This would create a dollar value to all your currently undervalued Gift cards, Benefits, Rewards & Loyalty Points.

IPOS VS ICOS (TGE)

From a guy who helped founders raise more than $280 million

Why will ICOs rule or NOT rule the world

How to Initial Coin Offerings raise millions without giving equity?

There are more ways this is done usually, as coins or tokens can be different from one another, but here is one standard way. The coins offered are for a certain utility or something that will be automated and that the users can access. Think of medical records that are accessed via a blockchain making sure they are protected and accessible globally at the same time. Every time someone uses this medical blockchain network, she or he needs to buy the coin that allows this network to function. The more people use the network the more its coin value increases.

The reason why when more people access their medical files on the network the more value of its digital coins increases is that they also exist in limited quantities! Hence, there are capital gains for investors just like with stocks. For coins usually there is no interest or dividends, just ownership of the currency used in a small economy. Companies can still take fiat dollars and euros for providing services of their network, but usually they need to convert them to their coins/tokens! Once they do, the value of the tokens increases!

Case study example
 • Invested 40,000 of their own money including travelling costs
 • Started in August and finished everything in February
 • Raised $24 million and kept 50% of their coins (tokens) worth $14 million

Prevent other mining softwares (e.g. ethminer) to mine my public forked Ethereum chain

$

(Sorry if I post this in the wrong place, but I think it's related to Ethereum mining)

I forked an Ethereum chain and put it as public, but I only want my own software/client to be able to mine. Other miners using ethminer, geth, etc, cannot mine and profit from my chain (At least not before they hack and de-compile my software and find a way to mine). Is that possible?

Something I have in my mind:
 • An encrypted key needed to be provide for mining, key is decrypted and verified in nodes.
 • I myself manage few mining pools and all nodes should ONLY accept answers from my pools (by IP or by an encrypted key). All my clients join my mining pools, but I guess this will make the chain very centralized and expose to security issue?

CPU and GPU Bitcoin mining is dead, you will never mine anything but dust and will never receive a
payout from a pool.

2) Bitcoin difficulty will adjust, meaning so will your income. Difficulty long term trend has been a steady
increase for the last few years. Of course difficulty could drop, it has before, but its rare when it does and
even more rare is a drop that is meaningful.

3) Bitcoin miners in general produce significant heat loads and you will have to deal with it one way or
another.

4) Bitcoin miners can take significant electrical resources to power them. You should know 100% if the
circuits powering your miners are rated for the load you're putting on them. If you don't you should get
professional assistance.

5) Bitcoin miners in general are LOUD! As in vacuum cleaner to hair-dryer loud.

In the Readme file of Claymore's miner I read the following:

For AMD cards, set the following environment variables, especially if you have 2GB cards:

GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

Are these environment variables required for Nvidia cards as well, and where can I find the description of these variables?

Mining rig keeps rebooting

Hello guys,

i have recently set up a rig for monero mining, and soon after it started mining it started rebooting itself after some time.
i couldn't find the exact reason that why this happens.

here are the specs of the rig:

Motherboard: Asus b250 mining expert (19 PCIE)
Processor: Intel Core i3-7100 Socket LGA 1151 Processor
Graphics card: 4 X Sapphire pulse vega 56 8gb
RAM: 8 GB Corsair (2400Mhz)
OS:Windows 10
Mining software used : XMR_STAK

here's the configuration at which I'm running my GPUs.

the one thing i noticed that when it's mining the GPU no 3's temp goes very high, compared to other GPUs. i don't understand why that happens.

can anyone suggest me what i can do to overcome this issue.

Mining with RTX 2080Ti - 70MH/s

Source from this listing:
https://bitnand.com/product-page/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2080ti-fe

GTX 1080Ti vs RTX 2080Ti
Memory speed: 11Gbps vs 14Gbps (+27%)
Size: 11GB vs 11GB (same)
Interface width: 352-bit vs 352-bit (same)
Memory bandwidth: 484GB/s vs 616GB/s (+27%)

If 1080Ti is mining at 55MH/s with the pill, then we can expect the new gen RTX 2080Ti to get up to 70+ MH/s mining Ethereum. This makes it easily the fastest, or at least on par with TITAN V card... until AMD comes up with new stuff.

[GUIDE][TUTORIAL][XMR,ETH] How To Mod Polaris Bios AMD RX 470/570/480/580 Mining

I've post this on bitcointalk, but it could help here also.

Lot of people asking how to mod RX bios. There are 2 ways the easy one and the proper one.
I will show you the easy way. This bios modding is easy for newbies.
Undervolting will only work with Windows If you need undervolt bios for Linux you need to do the harder way. You can ask here, someone could make it for you. I know that Wolf0 can do it. - Bitcointalk

If you need help, buy me a beer I can help you. Write me on e-mail monerobiosedit@gmail.com

What I can offer:
 • Performance timings for all GPUs
 • Bios mod
 • Support

How To Mod Polaris Bios AMD RX 470/570/480/580

Tools:
Polaris Bios Editor 1.4.1
Polaris Bios Editor 1.5
SRBPolaris Bios Editor
AMD/ATI ATIFlash
GPU-Z
Pixel Clock Patcher
DDU

Check what memory vendor you have with GPU-Z. This is Samsung.

Download newest ATIWinFlash and save your bios.

Start Polaris Bios Editor or SRBPolaris. Open the bios.

Copy performance timing. For Samsung is best Uber-Mix 3.1. You can find it here http://www.overclock.net/t/1604567/polaris-bios-editing-rx5xx-rx4xx
First post -> RX Performance timings. It can be used for RX 470/570 and 480/580 4GB or 8GB. Use it only for Samsung memory.
There are performance timings for all vendors Elpida, Hynix, Micron. You can google some of them also you can make your own. Basically it's just normal timing strap from card with tightening timings for better performance. It can be decode to values in SRBPolaris for example.
If you want good performance timings you can write to me.

Beware of space before the strap while you copying the Uber-Mix 3.1!

Copy it to 1750 and 2000. If you have more straps like this 1:xxxx 2:xxxx, you need to copy to the right one. In VRAM section, there is dropdown menu the Samsung one start with K, Hynix with H and Elpida with E. First one is 1:xxxx second one is 2:xxxx, SRBPolaris showing exact name of memory vendor.

You can higher or lower TDP if you want. Max memory clocks or vcore.

Undervolting
Do not put static voltages

Voltages like 65286 means they are dynamical for every card based on ASIC quality mostly. So you can flash the bios to all same cards (memory vendor) and it will work, every card will have similar voltages, some lower some higher.
The trick for easy undervolting is put lower values than it is. Voltages need to be equal or higher than the previous on.

Example from other forum how it could be

If you set clock in Afterburner or whatever you will se what voltages is that. Do not lower voltages too much in bios, you can always undervolt in Afterburner. Once you will know what voltages are stable you can put those dynamics values right for your card.

Also you can lower VDDC (VRM).
You can put values like 1000, 975, 950, lowering by -25mV. 975 and 950 should be stable on every cards, you can set 850 but this couldn't be stable. If you put lower voltages only to higher clocks it will always boot but in utilization it could be unstable.

There is lot more to change but this is basic and it's mostly enough what you need.
It's mainly meant to show you what is performance timings and how to do easy undervolt.

Save the bios and flash it with ATIWINFLASH
Load bios and click program. Your PC will freeze for few seconds so patiently wait!

After flashing your card uninstall AMD drivers with DDU!
Reboot and install new drivers and Pixel Clock Patcher Without patch your card will have error 43!
Reboot.

Memory OC and memory errors

Start miner or stability test.
Start with stock clocks than you can raise memory clocks by 10Mhz steps, every few seconds.
Download HWinfo64 and check for memory errors! Once you have some errors lower clocks a bit till there are no new. This clocks should be stable. After you find best memory clocks you can set core clocks (overclock or underclock) than you can try lowering voltages. Also you there shouldn't be artifacts!

http://www.pcworld.com/article/250644/how_to_overclock_your_graphics_card.html

Find your GPU and the GPU memory errors line. Watch it for numbers. If there are any after few minutes your memory clock is too high. If you have few errors after hours it's no problem. But key is to have 0 errors. Memory errors can cause bad shares!

With performance timings you can have 30-31MH/s with RX 470/570 and 31+MH/s with RX 480/580 (It could be 33+)
This is max you can have not every card can achieve it! Most cards can run above 28MH/s.

Quick video how the modding in PBE could be:
image

XMR: 800+H/s on 470/570/480/580, I don't know why, but 470 hashing more than 480
My XMR hashes with XMR-STAK-AMD
RX 470 Samsung 870H/s
RX 470 Elpida 835H/s
RX 480 Samsung 845H/s

SGminer GM 5.5.5
RX 470 Samsung 915H/s
RX 470 Elpida 890H/s
RX 480 Samsung 920H/s

My ETH hashes with Claymore (stock config)
RX 470 Samsung 30MH/s
RX 470 Elpida 29MH/s
RX 480 Samsung 31MH/s

Hope this could help someone, there are lot's of other tutorials and videos on youtube, but none of them what I saw used performance timings...

As I said if you need help, buy me a beer and I will help you.

Mining rigs supplier in Central London with UK, Europe delivery & VAT invoice

$
0
0
Have been building mining rigs for more than a year.
Months of research and thousands of pounds went into it (including: server grade graphic card like the Firepro S1950, Intel 6900K, 12 cores Intel Xeon processor, R9 Nano & GTX 1080 Ti mining rigs etc)
Own & successfully run a small mining farm

Import some of the hardware directly from the manufacturers (Middle East and China) and the remainder from some of the biggest distributors in UK, Germany and the whole of Europe.

As they say, no job is too small or too big. Fast turnaround; generally speaking three days for small orders, 10 days for bigger orders of 20+ miners (..given components availability in the market. Although I keep stock of rigs and components, graphic cards are bought on a as needed bases therefore lead time varies depending on their availability)

I supply:
a) Plug & Play RX570, RX580 & GTX 1070 systems with 6 graphic cards only & GTX 1080Ti with 5 graphic cards only.
b) 14 days return (returns at buyer expense)
c) direct phone & remote PC support throughout Europe
d) payment by bank transfer, cash on collection/delivery or BTC
e) VAT invoice or VAT free to European buyers with valid VAT number and same shipping address as VAT registration
f) volume scheme discount to startup farms (5+ miners)
g) fast shipping throughout Europe for £125 + VAT per miner (shipping on pallet for safety)
h) open, robust, stack-able stainless steel frame (you could stand on top of it without a problem) free from wood or other flammable parts!
i) delivery and setup included in the price for Central London deliveries if two or more rigs are purchased at the same time (with the same delivery address)
l) remote software updates and new coins installation/setup
m) change between Zcash, Monero, ETH & ETC at a (double) click of a button from the desktop
n) a customised/modified version of Windows 10 OS is installed. Windows is not activated, it does not require purchase/registration to mine. Ethos Distro can be installed but remote or software support must be seek directly with GPU Shack (the developers) I will only deal if a hardware failure would occur.
o) peace of mind: by owning and maintaining my own farm, shall a problem arise with pool, wallets etc, I will encounter your very same issue and will be able to advise promptly

What I do not do:
- custom made rigs based on customer specification i.e. rigs with 7, 8 or a zillion GPU, dual PSU, different motherboards or with hardware supplied by the customer (within the limits of the system, PSU & graphic cards models/preferences can be specified, if available)
- I do not fix / setup / adjust / optimise rigs built by another company, individual or the customer itself. I spent countless months, optimising my system/OS/hardware.

Most popular mining software used to mine is Claymore but others can be used as well based on GPU and/or coin mined.
I strongly suggest not to dual mine as this would stress the GPU too much and shorten their lifespan. Better performance/return/lifespan is obtained by mining a single coin in optimised mode: that is cool and stable for as long as possible, not squeeze the system to its last hashrate/breath at the cost of heat, stability and consequently lifespan.

Main components of my system comprise:
Motherboard (Asrock or Biostar)
Intel CPU (Celeron or Pentium)
DDR3 memory (4GB or 8GB)
Fast 100GB SSD (500Mb/s & 125000 IOPS read & write)
Windows 10 (not activated)
1 x 1000W 80Plus Gold PSU or better
6 x RX570, RX580 4GB or 8GB; 1070 or 1080 Ti graphic cards

Can also supply switches, monitor and any other hardware you may require.

As you can see it is based on the classic setup (I do not explicitly state brand/model because hardware may change depending on availability but performance/reliability will not) except.. it comes with some fundamental tricks/upgrades. To name just few: PSU with even power distribution, custom made risers, remote on/off/restart switch via mobile phone app, stripped down Windows 10 with custom settings, 24/7 operation with automatic restart and auto-login on main power/system/miner failure. All of this and more to insure a smooth, hands free and consistent mining operation.

BIOS are all custom made by me and are based on individual cards (same models may require different BIOS setting).

TAX savings: miners are invoiced as Custom made desktop PC and as a business you can deduct their costs from your taxable income under capital expenses.

Dozens of clients and 100's of rigs successfully delivered & installed. 2 rigs returned within 14 days, 5 rigs bought back past the 14 days period so far (30 days and two months) mostly due to funds needed elsewhere (buying house & taking different business direction).

I will update prices, on the second post below, on a weekly bases or as often as possible. Prices will need to be confirmed at the time of the order and may change without notice.
