Claymore mining DCR: Share rejected with flashed BIOS but no overclock.

Hi,
I am new to mining and I am using some Radeon Saphire 580 8gb nitro+ cards.
I got everything built and flashed the BIOS using a backed up original and then applied Polaris one click.
This boosted by Mh/s to around 28 but I am getting "share rejected " error quite regularly on all my GPU's at random times.
Reading into this it looks like an overclock setting but this is without overclocking, just running Claymore dual miner (I am just mining Ethereum). If I overclock I can get 30 mh/s and it still does the same thing, not really any worse? Ethermine shows I am losing 7% of shares.
I have several friends running the same setup with the same pool and running reliably so must be a setting somewhere. Is there any ideas before I flash bios back to original and see what happens?

Bricked your RX 480 due to bad flash?

Hey y'all,

In my latest bios flash endeavor, I managed to brick all my Sapphire RX 480 8b Ref cards at the same time. Note to self: Never flash all your cards at once.
What do I mean by brick? After rebooting, my cards would start, but I would have a black screen. No Post screen, nada. I tried my monitor on each card, tried only having one plugged in, etc, without avail.
I managed to find a short description on how to recover your card using 1+8 method, so I wanted to share it with you. (Props to Mikhan, http://www.overclock.net/t/593427/how-to-unbrick-your-bricked-graphics-card-fix-a-failed-bios-flash/230#post_25463481). I am no expert, but am outlining the steps I took. I take no responsibilites!

Note: You need either a graphcis card or a integrated graphics card (I used an old graphics card).

1. Unplug all your dead cards, plug in the working card (I used USB riser, seating it could work but with the paperclip it's going to be hard).
2. Boot your PC, press F11 to access BIOS settings (for me). You need enable that you primarily boot from your IGPU (or videocard). It should be somewhere under Advanced Settings > GPU cards or similar.
3. Turn off your PC. I now connected my monitor cable into the VGA input on my motherboard (so it was not directly plugged into the GPU card)
4. Turn your PC on to ensure that you can boot. If OK, turn off.
5. Unplug your working card, and connect one of your dead cards (Power+riser). Keep the monitor cable connected to the motherboard.
6. Use the 1+8 method. This means you connect pins 1 and 8 on your dead GPU using a paperclip, you bridge the pins so that they touch.

7. Turn on your PC. Post screen should appear. If not, check that paperclip is touching pins 1 and 8 (I gave it a nudge).
8. Once in Windows, open the cmd admin prompt for atiflash. Run atiflash -i and your dead card should appear, but state "fail".
9. Remove the paperclip, re-run atiflash -i, now you should see BIOS version (I liked to take this extra step).
10. Now reflash as you want using atiflash -f -p 0 xxx.rom.
11. Once finished, turn off your PC and repeat from step 5 for each card.
12. Do not forget to enter BIOS one last time to switch back the primary boot to your PCI Express card before you boot up using your resurrected cards.

Modding BIOS with Polaris Bios Editor v1.6.7

So i just tried Polaris Bios Editor v1.6.7 for the first time to test out it's "one click timing patch" And it works great. I got an extra 1MH/s per card on my elpida/micron cards.

For anyone modding their cards or having trouble getting a good hashrate, i highly recommend using this version and the one click method. It doesn't just copy the timing for you, it replaces the timing to what it knows to be the best for that card.

Surge protection necessary?

$

Recent lightning storm had me wondering:
1. how necessary is surge protection on our rigs? Does the PSU absorb any of it? What are larger farms using?
2. What brand/model is actually suitable to use on a 1300-1900W rig? Most normal strips are not rated for that much juice pumping through 24/7.

The thought of losing several rigs in one blip has me nervous. Thanks.

Crypto Gui Miner - Official Thread And Support

This is the official thread for support and development of CryptoGuiMiner! Please any suggest, criticize and praise.

I see that there are a lot of questions and different answers on forums on the subject of mining cryptocurrencies. So now… which cryptocurrency should you be mining and how? For beginners and people with no knowledge of cryptocurrencies, the biggest issue are the very basics like adjusting the settings which can be complicated and hard to figure out. If you want to start mining, it must be way more complicated than just a few clicks! Or is it? So you don’t have to bother, lose time or God forbid adjust something wrongly, there is an interesting piece of software that helps you and does everything automatically for you. I’m writing this because I myself am using this software and can confirm that it is definitely the best solution for everyone who is new in the world of cryptocurrency mining.

The program is called Crypto Gui Miner and it you can download it from https://cryptoguiminer.com/

The main thing which makes this program so special and what sets it apart from the others is the simplicity and automatic set-up function. There is even a calculator on their website that will calculate which cryptocurrency is the most profitable to mine, depending on the graphics cards that you use.

When you run the program, it will automatically recognize the graphics cards that you are using and adjust the settings so that it mines the cryptocurrency that is the most profitable. You also have a nice and clear display of temperature and other useful data such as hashrates, estimated monthly earnings in US dollars or Bitcoin, monitoring for tracking results via mobile phone, etc.
All you have to do is insert your wallet address so you can dafely save the currency you are mining directly into your wallet (and it is saved automatically). The best place for creating your wallet is the official website of the cryptocurrency that you wish to start mining. Of course, you always have control over what and when you will be mining.

You can also enter more than one wallet into the program, so the program will mine the currency that is the most profitable at that time. However, if you only wish to mine one cryptocurrency, then just click on the button “Force” and the chosen cryptocurrency will be mined regardless of the others.

In short, don’t focus on mining Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum or other currencies that are difficult to mine and you need hardware of 100+ thousands of EUR. Focus on currencies that can quickly be mined and monetized, converted into cash or for buying other cryptocurrrencies or if you plan to invest them in the long run. Just download the program, choose one or more currencies for mining, insert your wallet and that is it. No complicated settings, losing time, uncertainties etc.

**SOLVED**........Adding extra GPU causes OpenCL Error -4 in Claymore

Hi Guys, got another 2 8Gb RX580's today and joined then to my successfully running rig of 3 RX 580's.

Original 3 card rig was 2x 8Gb Rx580 and 1x 4Gb RX580, all working very well for well over 10 day now.

Added the 2 extar 8Gb Cards to rig and the 4Gb card cause the ' OpenCL Error -4 (0) - Cannot create DAG on GPU' error?? After 30 secs or so it says Card Failed and then reboots The mining software.

Put the rig back to original setup runs fine, take out the 4Gb RX580 and run with 4x 8Gb and it runs fine.

Tried changing the 4Gb card position on the MoBo, no difference. Searched on here for this error and most answer come back saying not enough memory to create DAG.....But it works fine on it's own or fine with 2 other 8Gb RX580's.

Any Ideas??

Thanks Peps!

Hello,

I am trying to flash my 8GB Rx580 Aorus with Hynix memory with ATIWinflash. Whenever I try using versions ati_winflash 2.6.7 and ati_winflash 2.6.6 I get the error "Cannot find discrete ATI Video Card." When I try using versions atiflash_277 and atiflash_274 it just instantly crashes. I am really stuck here and I have scoured the internet for clues; any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
