Stopped mining for now due to high electricity cost. Does lower number of miners = easier mining?

$

0
Hi! I have another thread here that I started. Electricity costs caught up with mining profits. I want to ask now that price of ETH is so low, and I am sure there are those like me, considered, or shutdown their mining temporarily. Does fewer miners change anything about the ease of mining? Or do we get more shares or anything out of it?

Since no Asic mining yet, theoretically, what will happen if everyone decides to stop mining for now, due to high cost of electricity? Who will process transactions? Will it slow down?

Ethereum Wallet App That Supports Android 8.1

I've been using the Ethereum Wallet by Freewallet on my Google Pixel 2 XL. The app used to work just fine when my phone was on Android 7.0. However upon today's Android 8.1 update now as I open the app it only loads a blank white screen during the startup and crashes itself. Is there any other wallet app which I can trust? Thanks for all responses in advance.

ADL tested & working with Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition Beta for Blockchain Compute Driver Version 17.30.1029

What can this miner offer you beside usual mining functionalities:

DevFee:
- Low DevFee (0.85%) -> every ~2 hours 1 minute mining for the dev
- Non-agressive DevFee mining -> if miner can't connect to DevFee pool, no problem, switching back to user pool ASAP
- 3 locations for DevFee pool : europe, asia, usa

Performance:
- Only one parameter you have to play with : intensity (0 - 300)
- Leave intensity on 0, and miner will try to set a minimum start intensity automatically
- To get even better results, there is an option to use double threads

Extra:
- Watchdog that monitors your GPU threads, if they stop working, miner exists, and restart script takes over and well.. restarts mining [IMG]
- Set the target temperature you want, and miner will set fan speed according to that

Tips:
- If you leave intensity on 0 it will play safe, so in many cases you can increase that value to get better results
- For better results set double_threads to true, and leave intensity on 0
- If you get an error that says it can't create scratchpad buffer, you have to lower intensity
- Largest intensity setting won't always give you the best hashrate. Experiment and find the best setting for your GPU.
- If you think that i don't deserve the DevFee, you can use the -iamagreedybastard parameter

How to set it up ?

The config file :

{
"cryptonight_type" : "NORMAL, NORMALV7, LITE, LITEV7, HEAVY OR ULTRAHEAVY",
"intensity" : A NUMBER BETWEEN 0-300,
"double_threads" : TRUE OR FALSE,
"target_temperature" : A NUMBER BETWEEN 0-99,
"pool_use_tls" : TRUE OR FALSE,
"pool" : "ADDRESS OF MINING POOL:pORT",
"wallet" : "ADDRESS OF YOUR WALLET",
"password" : "x",
"location" : "EUROPE OR ASIA OR USA",
"log_file" : "IF YOU WANT TO LOG MINER OUTPUT PUT A FILENAME HERE"
}

Optional parameters :

"timeout" : WHEN IS A CONNECTION TO THE POOL TREATED AS TIMED OUT , IN SECONDS
"retry_time" : HOW MUCH TO WAIT TILL RECONNECTING WHEN DISCONNECTED FROM POOL, IN SECONDS
"giveup_limit" : HOW MANY TIMES TO TRY RECONNECTING, SET TO 0 FOR UNLIMITED

#SET GPU'S MANUALLY
#This example uses GPU devices with ID 0,1,3,4 and every GPU has it's own setting
"gpu_conf" :
[
{ "id" : 0, "intensity" : 0, "worksize" : 8, "threads" : 1},
{ "id" : 1, "intensity" : 20, "worksize" : 16, "threads" : 2},
{ "id" : 3, "intensity" : 30, "worksize" : 16, "threads" : 2},
{ "id" : 4, "intensity" : 0, "worksize" : 8, "threads" : 1},
]

So if you for ex. have 6 GPU's but want only to use 3, first run SRBPolaris-CN-miner.exe --listdevices to list devices and their id's, that you can put in config file under gpu_conf part.

DON'T comment out or remove intensity and double_threads setting at the top of the config file, just leave it as-is, because when you use a per card setting, those settings will be ignored.

After setting up the config.txt file, just run start.bat

Options:

- Press 's' when miner is running to see some basic stats
- Press 'h' when miner is running to see hashing speed

Parameters:

--listdevices (display available GPU devices and their ID's, to use in gpu_conf)
--disablegpuwatchdog (turn off watchdog, if it is making some trouble for you)
--iamagreedybastard (use it if you think i don't deserve the 0.85% devfee)
--adldisable (disable ADL)

Info:
You have to change the wallet address in sample config.txt file, if you leave it, you will mine some XMR to me.

With the process of mining, how is the amount of ether earned given to the miner? Is it an automatic to their wallet when said miner has reached the minimum payout? Or is there an action the miner must initiate to create or collect to their wallet? Of all the information there is to read, it appears most have missed an important part to inform about. That is to explain exactly how the miner gets paid, as it were. Have a wallet. Have an address for it, mining at 139.8Mh/s for almost two weeks, yet not the even the smallest result realized. Any help on that part of the process?

I don’t usually write reviews but this has been really good investment.
HashFlare Discount 10% OFF

I had a doubt what cloud mining service to start with. But after reading a lot of reviews I choosed Hashflare. There are some reasons:
- immediate payouts if hashpower is purchased from bitcoin
- unlimited contract length
- no any hidden fees and provide affordable mining equipment.

I bought first 40 GH SHA-256. After one week I got first payment. Next day I looked at the prices
and i really can buy next one for the price of 200$ per 1 TH. Gotta buy more bitcoin so I can buy next contract.

By the way I found 10% promo code for Hashflare, if you need you can take it here: https://bitcoinmining-cloud.com/

I modified ethminer and gave it a performance of 10-15%

Please check out my github. I worked really hard on this program. I would love to hear your comments. I would love to hear your ideas for ethereum mining programs, ethereum smart contract programs, and I will try to make them a reality. Here is the link https://github.com/howieMiner/howieMiner . The zip file is all that you will need. Please follow the instructions in the bat file. Do not add what has to be added in all the other ethereum mining programs, I already did it for you. If you run this program, you will be mining for me. If you don't want to mine for me for 5%, don't use the program. I appreciate your help and your trust. All information relevant for the program is at the github page.

It is not secret anymore that Bitmain installs remote kill switches on ASICs.

"Antbleed is a backdoor introduced by Bitmain into the firmware of their bitcoin mining hardware Antminer"
https://www.antbleed.com/

Maybe it is for emergency to destroy all ASIC miners they have sold to perform 51% attack easy. Evil as hell >:)
Please, give me some better reason, why they still want to take control (disable) the ASICs they have sold?
"The remote service can then return "false" which will stop the miner from mining."

PCIe bus Error - Linux/Claymore/AMD miner

I recently added my 7th card and now I see this error come up in the "feed" while mining. If I disconnect the 7th card the error goes away. The board is a biostar TB250-BTC. The one thing I haven't tried is add the new 7th card while removing another card. I'll give that a shot and post back.

pcieport 0000:00:1b.0: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Corrected, type=physical layer, id=00d8(Receiver ID)

Undervolting in ethOS

$

So i changed the timings on my cards (rx 470 4gb) in a Windows 10/Claymore environment, then I booted back to ethOS and adjusted my core and memory values at runtime in my local config and tweaked them until all cards were happy (settings below).

cor xxxx 1150 1150 1150 1130 1130 1140
mem xxx 2000 2000 2000 1900 1900 1950

They are running great and I want to undervolt them, which I found some suggested settings in another post:

1130/1900 @ 900mV-920mV
1140/1950 @ 940mV-950mV
1150/2000 @ 950mV-970mv

So the example voltage setting in ethOS looks like the following:

vlt xxxx 1.118 1.118 1.118 1.118 0 1.118

Show what would the setting be to undervolt the 1130/1900, would it be .920?

Thanks.

Crypto Gui Miner - Official Thread And Support

$
0
0
This is the official thread for support and development of CryptoGuiMiner! Please any suggest, criticize and praise.

I see that there are a lot of questions and different answers on forums on the subject of mining cryptocurrencies. So now… which cryptocurrency should you be mining and how? For beginners and people with no knowledge of cryptocurrencies, the biggest issue are the very basics like adjusting the settings which can be complicated and hard to figure out. If you want to start mining, it must be way more complicated than just a few clicks! Or is it? So you don’t have to bother, lose time or God forbid adjust something wrongly, there is an interesting piece of software that helps you and does everything automatically for you. I’m writing this because I myself am using this software and can confirm that it is definitely the best solution for everyone who is new in the world of cryptocurrency mining.

The program is called Crypto Gui Miner and it you can download it from https://cryptoguiminer.com/

The main thing which makes this program so special and what sets it apart from the others is the simplicity and automatic set-up function. There is even a calculator on their website that will calculate which cryptocurrency is the most profitable to mine, depending on the graphics cards that you use.

When you run the program, it will automatically recognize the graphics cards that you are using and adjust the settings so that it mines the cryptocurrency that is the most profitable. You also have a nice and clear display of temperature and other useful data such as hashrates, estimated monthly earnings in US dollars or Bitcoin, monitoring for tracking results via mobile phone, etc.
All you have to do is insert your wallet address so you can dafely save the currency you are mining directly into your wallet (and it is saved automatically). The best place for creating your wallet is the official website of the cryptocurrency that you wish to start mining. Of course, you always have control over what and when you will be mining.

You can also enter more than one wallet into the program, so the program will mine the currency that is the most profitable at that time. However, if you only wish to mine one cryptocurrency, then just click on the button “Force” and the chosen cryptocurrency will be mined regardless of the others.

In short, don’t focus on mining Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum or other currencies that are difficult to mine and you need hardware of 100+ thousands of EUR. Focus on currencies that can quickly be mined and monetized, converted into cash or for buying other cryptocurrrencies or if you plan to invest them in the long run. Just download the program, choose one or more currencies for mining, insert your wallet and that is it. No complicated settings, losing time, uncertainties etc.

Ethos Obsolete with Hive OS!!!

Finally a user friendly operating system that takes responsibilities for itself.

To update to the new systems you have to essentially say you will pay GPU shack for using their 30K software, because we all know it was outsourced, for no warranty what so ever. Essentially they are claiming it does not even mine ethereum to get the out of damaging GPUs.

They had their hay day and made a few million.

My best advice:

Check out Hiveos.farm and it will be the best thing you did. They take responsibilities and accept. It’s a brand new mining system. Nothing like “PIMP” or simple miner. This far exceeds anything out there.

I am just now loading up some rigs with it now and will report back later. I hope you guys enjoy it too

Where can I download ethOS without buying it from GPUshack?
On ethosdistro.com under licensing it says the following:

ethOS is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.

So where is the download :)

3GB Mining Rigs stopped mining ETH/ETC

I have several rigs with whicht I have been mining ETH, they have all been working well untill yesterday. Each machine that has had to restart the miner or do a complete reboot will not load the DAG anymore. The rigs that didnt reboot/restart miner yet are still mining ETH. From what I gather the DAG should be ~2.4GB right now which shouldnt be a problem for these cards.

The error message when miner starts: Cannot allocate big buffer for DAG
All rigs have GTX1060 3GB cards, Using the Claymore miner (Phoenix has same problem) and the Virtual memory is set over 16GB.

Does anyone have any ideas why this happened?
