My ping times show "Average = 71ms" but my accepted shares submission times show "ETH: Share accepted (343 ms)!"

Is this normal? Not getting any shares rejected. Not sure about stale shares...

I'm based in Japan, connecting to eth-asia1.nanopool.org.

Hello,
I have an issue with my rig before everything was good. Until I plugged in one more card to it now it is running with 5 GPU (gtx 1060 3gb) and the problem is not stable electricity use from a wall it is using between 450-500 and I think for this reason hash rate is not stable too. Please help me with this issue. If you need more help please ask.

If I keep the overclock at 500Mhz on the memory, is there any other way to increase hashrates?

I am using Nvidia drivers 385.69 and also the latest Claymore (version 10).

I am getting about 28.4 Mhs on 1070s and on my 1060 getting 21.2mhs

Mining dificulty drop explanation

Please can someone help me understand the recent Byzantium fork. I had been under the impression that over the next year the mining difficulty would get increasing harder as we get closer to POS. Over night however I have gone from mining 0.82 ethereum a month to 1.47 so my earnings have rocketed.. I’m happy but feel I’m missing something.

Can someone help me explain in a concise manner what’s happening and whet to expect as we move towards POS.

Low Hashrate on RX 580 and GTX 1080

Hey guys, i have some questions. I startet mining a few days ago with 2 Standart gaming PC's.
So the gtx 1080 pc has a hashrate between 20 and 22 mh/s and i didnt touched any Settings so i think its fine.
My other PC has a Radeon RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ 8 GB. I startet mining and only got about 16-17 MH/s and i was realy confused because i see that you should get 22-23 without OC and Modding the bios. So i flashed the Bios and got about 20 mh/s now but it is still very low compared to other 580is. Can anyone give me some extra tips? Thanks

Download AMDGPU-Pro Driver Version 16.30 released by AMD.
The basics of the install:
1. download amdgpu-pro_16.30.3-306809.tar.xz
2. extract the compressed file to your home folder or somewhere.
3. goto that folder and now run the installation script "sudo ./amdgpu-pro-install"
AMD's page support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Radeon-GPU-PRO-Linux-Beta-Driver%E2%80%93Release-Notes.aspx
And here is the direct link to the compressed file:
https://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/amdgpu-pro_16.30.3-306809.tar.xz
NOTE: You have to extract the compressed file and then run the script to install the driver to make opencl devices detectable (for ethminer, oclhashcat, etc.)
I am using 6 - RX 480 (4GB model ) in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
Stock settings. I believe the ram is at 7000mhz vs 8000 mhz in 8GB version.

Preliminary benchmarks

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
Driver is 16.30 for Linux
Genoil 1.1.7
2 - XFX 4gb rx 480
4 - Sapphire 4gb rx 480

Doing about 134-139 mh/s. I'd say its doing about 22.5 or 23mh/s in Ubuntu 16.04 in stock mode.
Next up is finding out how to overclock/undervolt GPUs in Ubuntu 16.04 with atitweak or something else (amdconfig/aticonfig do not work anymore unless I need to install the SDK.. we shall see.) :)

Quick Start Guide To Mine Ethereum

$

PLEASE READ THIS, OR USE THE SEARCH BAR. We'd like to keep this forum clean of repeat questions. Thanks!

I've made this quick guide to help people new to mining, and I'll add to it if I missed anything. I hope this helps.

Hardware requirements to start mining.

GPU: It's up to you to choose what graphics card you want to mine with. Do your homework. How much is it. How much power does it need. How fast is it in terms of its hash rate. The GPU must have at least 2GB of memory, AMD cards are best to use and AMD GPU driver 15.12. This Mining Hardware Comparison list is very helpful. http://62.212.74.86/~mining/list/
If you want a custom rom (Higher hash, lower power), you can contact Heliox
For example: RX 480 8G Samsung: 32+Mh ETH, RX 470 4G Hynix: 31+Mh ETH

Motherboard: You'll need a motherboard that has enough PCIe x16 and PCIe x1 slots to support the ammout of graphics cards you plan on using in your rig. The Asrock H81 Pro BTC and Asrock H97 Anniversary, are both good boards to use, they are relatively cheap and they can support 6 graphics cards with 1 PCIe x16 slot and 5 PCIe x1 slot. And you will need to buy a power button, obviously to turn on your rig.

Riser Cables: To use the PCIe x1 slots on your motherboard, will need to buy PCIe x1 to x16 riser card extender cables, it can also be used on the PCIe x16 slot. It's also great to give your cards some space from each other. I would recommend buying 1 or 2 extra ones, because sometimes you'll get one that doesn't work.

CPU: You'll want to buy a CPU that fits your motherboard. If you go with the Asrock H81 Pro BTC or Asrock H97 Anniversary, the Intel Celeron G1820 or G1840 works just fine for it.

Power Supply: You'll need to calculate how much power you need. For example, I have a 6 card AMD R7 370 rig, each card uses 110watts of power for a total of 660watts, and the rest of the rig uses about 200watts. So knowing this rig will need 860watts of power, I went with a good 1000watt power supply that came will all the necessary cables.

Hard Drive: A 60GB hard drive is all you need, and you can find a small solid state drive now for a good price.

RAM: A minimum of 4GB of RAM.

You'll also need to buy a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and its best to use an Ethernet connection not WIFI. You may temporarily need an optical drive, to install your drivers and Operating System. If you can do all that with a flash drive, that's great too.

Mining

In this link from Nanopool.org, http://eth.nanopool.org/help, you'll find 3 mining clients you can easily download and configure to start mining. Claymore Dual Miner, Genoil Miner, and EthMiner.

For example. I use Ethminer and I point it to nanopool, so I edited the start.bat file so it looks like this:
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
ethminer -M -G -F http://eth-us-east1.nanopool.org:8888/YOUR_WALLET/YOUR_WORKER_NAME

Then all you have to do is just run the bat file and you're mining away.

You should know where your DAG file is, because if you don't keep an eye on it, your hard drive may quickly fill up. You only need the 2 most recent DAG files so it's OK to delete any older ones, but sometimes you'll have to delete all of them. For me, I just had to search for the folder "Ethash" and put a shortcut of it on the desktop.

Also some helpful tips.

Set your rig to turn on when power is connected, AND set your miner to run on startup. Just google run on startup. It's a must and you'll love it when your power goes out and you're not home. When your power comes back on, your rig will turn on and start mining again.

Use a remote desktop. I use Google Chrome Remote Desktop, and I set it up on all my rigs. From my phone or another computer, I can control any of my rigs and keep an eye on them.

Sapphire RX580 Nitro+ 8GB - Broken Card

Hello,

I have 6 x Sapphire RX580 Nitro+ 8GB in my rig and they hash at 21,3mhs each. I tried OC on Windows10 and Linux (simplemining), but the OC drops the hash rate no matter values I setup for memory clock. So...I modded only one RX580 (copied 1750 timings to 2000). After modding, that card hash at 24 mhs w/o OC and at 26-27 mhs OC (1150 gpu clock, 2100 mem clock-any value higher than 2100 crashes the card very fast).

After 2-3 days, my rig was off because of that modded card. I pulled out the card and the rig is ON. I installed the suspect card in another PC, but I have no image on my monitor, no post, no nothing (the pc works Ok without that card). So...the card is broken. I used the bios switch of the sapphire card, but still nothing....the card is broken. The warranty, I believe that is gone (because of the custom bios).

My conclusion: Sapphire RX580 Nitro+ 8GB (hynix memories) is garbage....Low mhs with factory settings or medium hash rate (26 mhs) with modified bios (but high risk of damaged card)....

MSI RX470/480 Gaming X Rig on SMOS

$

hey guys,

i got a 5*rx480(8gb Samsung)/1*rx470(8gb Micron) rig running on SMOS. i got the rig running at 170 MH/s. Strangely some of the rx480s are weaker than others, which run stable at ~30+ MH/s. I cannot overclock these without resulting in instability. I modded the bios for all the cards concerning the timings only. Thinking about moving to ANORAK's bios mod.

My settings are:
Core: 1400(rx480),1310(rx480),1325(rx480),1350(rx470),1325(rx480),1400(rx480)
Mem: 2200,2020,2050,1900,2050,2200 (1900=rx470)

Powerstage: 4
Target Temperature: 65

Does anybody has references for these cards? Any suggestions for the SMOS settings?

Cheers!

Hi,
I have five rigs with ubuntu 17.04 and 8x RX 570.
Also I have one rig with same configuration except I have only 6x RX 570.
I have problem that after like half a day running last cards always crash and I mine on 7/5 cards only.
What can be the issue?
Thanks for help!

so i had an old computer
intel dg31pr mobo
core 2 duo processor
2gb ram
msi radeon r9 270x OC($110) my only investment was this
i am getting around 450-460 hashes
minergate claymore miner

given that electricity cost is not an issue is this a viable option

i am mining monero

people often say they get mega hashes with this card how is this possible

this was also a test rig kinda thing before i actually invested i wanted to start off with lowest budget just to know my way around

when ever i try to OC wind msi afterburner it sets back to default screen blinking and only gives like 70 hashes

can i get more hashes out of this card if yes how

should i continue to mine and invest in better equipment

Have you bricked your GPU? LAST RESORT! RX 580, RX 480

So this is a story on how I unbricked my card, it may perhaps help someone in my situation.

To make a long story short! I bricked one of my RX580 8gb. I flashed 8 of them and the 9th, fails! So i know it was not the BIOS that was bad.
Note! This model dose not have a BIOS switch.

So i began from the top and tired all the methods that have been described on the web...
* WinFlash
* Flash from CMD
* And the most powerful of them all flashing from a booted dos USB.
* And the Super Man of flashing! BIOS bridge (Vlad did this one)

And Nothing!

So i was thinking to my self! well, that is what you get for playing with fire, you stupid idiot! Now you have a 300 dollar brick in your hands!

After crying like a little bitch.. I got in contact with this great you-tuber, called Vlad, a electronics wiz, that is into mining. I told him about my problem, and he offers to helped me. So i sent my GPU to him.
After a couple days, he responds. "Your BIOS chip was faulty.."
I was like "OMG, what?!?! I didn't even know that it was a thing."
Now, perhaps you are asking your self "How in the hell did that happen?". We don´t know. it may have been faulty from the factory, or maybe it was some thing i did. We just do know.

If you ever have similar problems, take a look at this video and guide your self on how to do it like a "professional fixer" of others mistakes!
Even if you don't have a problem, just take a look. It will amaze you on all the cool tools he has in his work shop.

BONUS: And in the end of part 2, he will show you how to fix a faulty BIOS chip. It will amaze you on easy it is to fix

Part1 : https://youtu.be/a3kWxFodvSU

Part2: https://youtu.be/3k1Nmc-wmh8

Cheers!

Hello guys, does anyone knows how to request or known if further versions of ethos will support Bitcoin Gold mining? I know this an ethereum forum but since many of us been using Ethos I also would like to know how many of you are interested to try mining this coin. And I don't know you guys, but I love ethos since the day I try it.
