Hello everyone, I hope anyone reading this is well.
I make this post in hopes of someone being able to point in me in the right direction. I will explain everything as much as I can.
I have 6 XFX - Hard Swap Edition AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB GDDR5 GPUs. These can get 22 Mhs stock. So I decided to overclock them using polaris to mod timings and atiflash. However, this is my first rig. And I did not think of checking the memory of every one of the GPUs separately, only testing one and erroneously thinking that all the BIOS would be the same. I was completely wrong about that. So here started my problems. I flashed all of the cards as Hynix memory when in reality I have 2 hynix, 3 elpida, 1 samsung. So now i have 4 cards which always cause probpems while mining (using claymore miner v9.0). After 10-15 minutes or 1 hour - 2 hours, the miner always throws the WATCHDOG error saying GPU x has failed to answer in openCL call. I have used -wd 0 to make miner keep working even if the watchdog error ia thrown, so now I know for a fact the two hynix cards always stay up running indefinitely. The other 4 are the problem. I have tried using -eres and -gser 2 to help with stability to no end.
I also tried installing a fresh windows install with the flashed BIOS for each individual card. I flashed hynix, samsung, elpida using online guides and then did a fresh windows install. Installed drivers ( have tried using 16.9.2, 16.9.1, 17.5.1, 16.11.5) and got the miner running for about 2 hours at 150 mhs with all 6 cards running at flashed speeds. Then got the watchdog error, pc restart, and everytime after that any attempt at mining just kept either crashing at DAG creation in the miner or wouldnt get past Pool/solo setting. I restored the hynix original bios to all 6 gpus and now they at least run for 1 - 2 hour intervals at 20-22 mhs each. At this point, im going pretty crazy because I dont have the original elpida or samsung memory files for these specific cards, and i cant flash them because they are causing problems while flashed as well.
Known errors that are happening :
watchdog error
Error/crash of Amd drivers which triggers a windows banner saying "Amd drivers have failed and successfully recovered" followed by the pc hanging and resetting. This error always follows error at DAG creation stage of claymore miner.
If anyone might have any aid to give, ill receive it with open arms. I currently have 2 other successful rigs running, but this xfx rig is causing me many days without full Mhs mining. Thank you for your time, i sincerely appreciate it.
