I bought a pcie bridge on ebay for $39 and tried to add 2 rx470's to my existing mining rig (6 GPU's , 4 rx480, 2 rx470) - for a total of 8.
After some bios resetting to get the motherboard to boot (it didn't initially like 8 GPU's) then Ubuntu would not recognize more than the first 7 gpu's.
The good news is the little PCIE bridge works fine with 7 gpu's and windows and ubuntu, and the bridge did not increase the base motherboard wattage noticeably.
Does anyone know how Ubuntu finds the gpu's and whether it has a maximum? I figure I could put 6 of these bridges on my board and run up to 18 gpu's but not much help if ubuntu will only see the first 7.
