Hi All,
I am new to mining, just getting into it. I purchased 4 ATI XFX 470 Black OC 4GB cards, I have a GBT FA2 MB with an AMD A10 FM7890K CPU ( Onboard Radeon R7) and 16GB of ram. I have powered USB to PCI adapters for the cards and a 30GB SSD drive. The hardware is running and so far no issues, though I did have some issues when I went to use BOINC to crunch at 100% GPU/GPU, the system just shutdown. That might be a power issue, I am adding a second 725W PS tonight so I will have 1450 total Wattage, I think that should be enough for 4-5 cards and the CPU etc, heck probably even two more if I can get these to work.
My problem is, I have had no luck getting these cards working properly in Ubuntu 16.04 and I don't know how to add or what mining program to install. I can get fPROXY, that still seems to install according to some directions I found, but getting the GPU's to be seen and usable in Ubuntu 16.04 and setting fans and the like, I have no clue.
I prefer a headless install, but will install the desktop if it is the only way to get it to work. Any step by step instructions you guys feel like providing I'd appreciate it. I have tried many, many different ones with little luck. I did manage to get a 15.05 versions working running 14.04 with some older 2GB cards, but they can't hash not enough memory and the install process for that version of Ubuntu doesn't work for 16.04.
Could really use the help, thanks all!
