Mining quick start

I was mining happily on a Linux Ubuntu 14.04 rig, 8 gb Ram, with a sapphire AMD Radeon R9 380 GPU. I was using Geth and solo mining.

Due to a number of forks etc and a system problem I have had to reinstall Ubuntu from scratch now 16.04.

However my question is for any advice for a quick start up, ie lack of time to go deep into tweaking and installing.

Does 16.04 work with best drivers for the card etc.

Is there any better miners that I can install or gui based miner to solo mine / i may join a pool eventually.

Is Aleth-one worth using? Claymore perhaps?

Ideally I would like to install an OS, Ubuntu or I could do Windows if performance is better? Install a miner that will see my hardware with little need to upgrade drivers etc and then set to mine.

This due to a very busy schedule rather than laziness on my part. If it is best to stick to geth should I roll back to 14.04?

Thanks in advance for the advice.
