Undervolting AMD RX cards on Linux

I'm trying to undervolt different models of AMD RX GPUs on Ubuntu.
I did a lot of research and, as far I know, my two only options are:

- Using ohgodatool to change vddc index

For example ohgodatool -i 0 --core-state 7 --core-vddc-idx 6, but I don't really understand this.
I'm testing on a RX 470 Mining Edition and on state 6 I have -26. -26 what? 26mV less than the base value? -26%? And what's the base value?
Also, if I understand correctly, I can't choose an arbitrary number of mV.

- Editing the VBIOS

This gives me more control but it's a nightmare.
A few questions: When editing the VoltageObjectInfo portion of the bios, how do I choose the value in mV?
I watched a video that explains this, and they say that the hex value should increase by one for every 6.25mV increase, but again, what's the base value? 0?

A couple more questions:
How does ethOS do this? How can it apply an arbitrary number of mV?
Is there a way to know the current value in mV that the card is using? I didn't find any tools to do this.
Do I have any other option?

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

PCIe slot not working after GPU flash

ahoy,

I've got 12 of the same memory (hynix) 580s. First 6 work like a dream, flashed them all with the same bios and it worked perfectly.

On to the next rig, it plug everything in and it works straight away, detects all 6 cards.

I flash the cards with same bios as before (same memory, same brand, purchased together) and now one of the pcie slots fails to show up in windows.

The motherboard I'm using (tb250-btc pro 6 gpu ver) has a post screen that shows if your pcie slots are working, faulty or not being detected.

The motherboard post screen shows everything to be working fine, but windows won't detect one pcie slot since the flash.

The riser/gpus work perfectly on all other pcie slots, it's just this one that windows has decided to forget.

thought I set it up ok BUT
after 12 hours and 280 shares my Wallet shows nothing
Blockchain is downloaded and was synched

AMD Radeon Vega 56 Air Boost OC card mining at 0 Hashes

It was working OK but a friend try to flash a 64 Rom onto the card. Then the system would lock. I downloaded and flashed a 56 Rom, but this card still has a 0 Hash rate. Drive new and older drivers.... Same issue. When I try flashing the original Rom to the card, I get SSID Mismatch. Other cards in the system, the XFX Radeon RX VEGA 56 RX Vega 56 hashes OK.

Do I need to short the card out? and try flashing an original Rom?

Hi. With the recent drop of Eth to 500+, Potential earnings will either be 0, or some losses due to electricity bill. Am struggling to justify continuous operation. Should I stop? Or can I change to other crypto? It seems from whattomine, eth is still the most profitable.

Riser setup (Safety questions)

Hello fellow miners. I come to you in need of aid. I have some questions if my riser set up is correct and if it can handle the load safely. So let's get to it.

This is what I want to do (I believe this to be safe):


So here are my questions:

1. Is it safe for me to split 1x8pin pcie into 2x8pin pcie. And power 2xRX580 with it.
Answer: No and yes. The manufacturer limit is 150W so the cable shouldn't be able to take it. But in reality they can be used to power 2xRX580 and other GPUs that consume about the same amount of power (about 170W or less. theoretical max is for PCIe is 288W), but on higher end GPUs like 1080ti, titan x, vega 56/64 this is not possible (or at least not recommended), due to the GPUs needing more power.

2. Am I safe splitting 1 molex into 2. And then powering 2 risers with them? Just like in the picture above.

3. On the picture you can see I have a chain of 3 molex connectors on the same cable(not my actual cable, the one I'll use will be a high quality PSU molex cable). How many GPU risers can I safely connect to it? Could I do 3x Y molex splitter (male to female) and power 6 GPU risers with it?

4. How much is the max and avg load on a riser? How much can a riser handle?
Answer: Up to 75W (not sure if it could do more?). So if we take my GPU that uses 170W. The riser should be at 75W and the remaining 95W are from the 8pin PCIe connector. This is how I think it works?

5. How much is the max and avg load on a molex cable? How much can a molex handle? (I've seen people say somewhere 135W, but I'm not 100% on this)
Answer: Molex is rated for 132 watts/11 amps. BUT, I still don't know how much it COULD TAKE "safely" (not burn to pieces like the sata/molex connectors do).

My PSU is 3x EVGA SuperNOVA 1200 P2, 80+ PLATINUM 1200W.
I also have 4x LC-Power LC6650GP4 V2.4 (650W) and 1x LC-Power LC1000 (1000W) to help me power all of my GPUs.
I'm using 2x Asus B250 mining expert motherboard.
I need to power 7x Nvidia 1070 GPUs and 14x RX 580 GPUs.

I'm asking how you would power my GPUs. If you had the above PSUs with the GPUs and motherboard I mention.

I think I damaged my gpu while trying out various custom memory timings
Now its much worse in overclocking and instanly start to glitch if i try to reach the same speeds with it as I can do Stable before.
before : 31.4 mh/s was stable
Now : 30.5 mh/s is kinda stable

What do now? Did I really damaged it?

New rig setup - Rig wont turn on

Hiya!

Hope you are all doing well.

So I just assembled a rig but for some reason, it wont turn on, do you have any suggestions to why this might be th case?

I am using a H81 pro btc 2.0 motherboard

8 gb 1600 mhz compatible RAM

Intel pentium i3 1150 processor

1200 EVGA Platinum power supply.

At the moment I disconnected 5 GPUs and only have 1 GPU connected via VGA to power supply and the riser cable placed on one motherboard slot

I have a SSD connected to motherboard slot and one cable connecting it to power

I also have a power button placed where it should be

This is pretty much it but for some reason when I connect the supply to power socket and turn on then theres no response but then I try to click the power button and still theres no response.

Shall I connect all GPUS and also extra power (PERIF) to motherboard and PSU and then try?

I am not sure what I am doing wrong, please let me know if you can assist.

Hidden miner with easy setup.

Open z.cnf with Notepad and point it zcash for the wallet(without Riga, just a wallet)

If necessary, change the pool to pool.cnf (default is spelled out dwarfpool.com)
If necessary, specify iplogger in the iplog.cnf (http only! Detaches during installation)
Saved files to the archive without a password!

Rename back to system64dr.zip to system64dr.sys

Assembly ready. Simply write down the necessary pool in the pool.cnf Zcash is mining on flypool.org, nanopool-backup.

Peculiar properties:
Writes to startup
Melnitsa both on 64 and 32 bit systems.
Ban my computer to go to sleep(just the screen goes blank, the computer works and mines)
Load 50% CPU usage and no restrictions on the graphics card.
If the miner is disabled, immediately after the closing runs
When you remove from startup, it is prescribed again.
It is extremely difficult to close the miner
Admin rights are not needed
I clean from the detector and spread the new version regularly.

Hi,

I would like to know what Hash Rate RX580's get dual mining different coins, so I can plug the data into WhatToMine to see what is best for me.

I am currently Dual Mining ETH + SmartCash
My RX580's get the following Hash Rates
ETH: 30Mh/s
SmartCash: 180Mh/s

What sort of hash rates would I get on SIA / DCR and other dual mine-able coins?
