Wondering what to do with your GPU rigs when Ethereum goes proof-of-stake?
Ever wanted to easily switch from mining Ethereum to mining Monero or other crypto-assets/currencies?
Well, the Portable instant Mining Platform (PiMP), a Linux-based, user-friendly multi-algorithm mining platform is back and now includes Ethash/Ethereum as well as LBRY, Monero, Decred and a bunch of new algorithms which came out since 2014 which until recently was when PiMP was last updated. In those Litecoin and Dogecoin days, PiMP was the de-facto platform of many GPU miners.
Unlike then, the new PiMP Classic 1.8 release is not free.
Like ethOS, the developers (rightly IMHO) are charging a per rig license fee to aid in future development. In the case of PiMP it is $25 dollars via their webstore and Paypal.
I don't know why we can't pay in ETH or BTC but I plan on purchasing a copy and testing it out on one of my GPU rigs as well as some old Scrypt ASICs (Thunder X3s) and report back anything of interest.
