Hi, I've modded my rx480 cards to a lower core- and higher memclock (1750/2150), and applied the 1500 ram timings to the higher frequencies. All 7 cards worked without errors at least 24 hours in my testing scenario. Now i connected these cards to a different board and power unit (but identical types), and some of the cards have crashed after several hours.
Which is the most probable reason for the GPUs to fail now?
The ram timings became critical due to higher Temperature? Or may the second board/PSU provide a slightly higher voltage to the PCIe bus? Are the 1500 Mhz timing strips too agressive for 2150 MHz clockrate? But why don't they fail on the other board...?
I've changed ramclock from 2150 to 2100 which seem to work stable now, but with less hashpower of course.
What would be your approach?
Sapphire rx480 Nitro 4GB with hynix (and elpida?) ram
MSI Z177a Gaming Pro Carbon
Corsair HX1200 W 80+ Platinum
