Cooling During the Summer Time – Ideas?

I currently have my rigs in the garage since I don’t have a lot of space in the house. This is problematic since I live in Kansas and it gets pretty hot in the summertime. I have a really small area in the basement that I think I might be able to work with. It’s a 4ft x 4ft area that may work if I create the right environment. Here is what I’m thinking. What I’d like to get is everyone’s opinion since I’m not an HVAC guy. ;)

I’m finishing up my 4U server rack GPU rig with some external server fans I purchased from Finksy over at Bitcointalk. What I’m thinking is this…

1. Create a “hot isle” on one side of the 4ft area. This will be small and probably an enclosed box that the exhaust fans from the servers would point directly
into.
2. Exhaust this “hot box” up into the subfloor and connect it into the exhaust from my furnace, which is in the same area.
3. I would have an A/C register installed into the area so the servers would be pulling cool air in and exhausting the warm air out.

Has anyone had any luck building something like this with so little space? I REALLY don’t want to power down my rigs since they are so profitable right now. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Maybe get some pictures going in the thread of how people are dealing with the heat. Thanks!
