Hi guys
I've looked everywhere and can't get custom bios mods for my two cards. So now I am on a mission to make my own!
I read what some guys have done with their BIOS mods and tried that but I'm not getting the results I am looking for. I see there are some guys with serious skills regarding this topic on this forum, and I really hope for some input to guide a noob like me in the right direction.
I will detail each card seperately along with what I have done:
HIS RX480 4gb IceQ X2
At stock frequencies I and voltages I am getting mid late 22 to early 23mh on these cards. After setting the 2000mhz strap to the same timings as the 1750 strap, and manually overclocking in wattman to 2000mhz on the ram, I got up to 25mh. Setting the default clock to 2000mhz in the bios editor made the card not want to work upon the next reboot, but clocking via wattman or Ethos local.conf works fine.
I am unsure what to set the voltages for memory and gpu to, I found a thread here where a guy detailed the tuning of his XFX RX480 4gb cards but his cards were able to push to 2250mhz and 31mh. I just want to get a stable 27-28mh configuration to get my mines up and running well.
At 300mhz the GPU voltage is set to 800mV, and every stepping after that is 65282 which does not make sense.
Are there any of the power TDP(110), TDC(110) and max power limit(def 115w) settings that I need to change?
Second card: Powercolor Red Dragon RX480 4gb
Same story as the above, except the memory strapping goes 1750/1900/2000, unlike the HIS which is 1750/2000. The Powercolors use samsing vram.
Regardless, I copied the timing for 1750 to 1900 and 2000. That is all I did then I saved the rom and rebooted. Card not responding. Reflashed to stock bios everything works fine.
The powercolor cards run stable at 2000mhz overclocked with stock bios and powertune +6 setting in Ethos. They give me 24.6mh that way.
I really want to get all my cards up to 27mh, then I would be pretty damn happy ^^ And in future only buy sapphires because that seems to be the only brand people want to mod bios for :P
I would really appreciate all help and pointers. I've done quite some reading on the subject but this is the first time I am trying to do this and a little scared of turning my moneymakers into expensive paperweights.
