Hey guys,
I'm pretty new to ethereum mining - I'm trying to get a system set up and working before I decide whether or not I want to invest in a 6 GPU rig. I've had a Asus Dual RX480 running all week in my desktop, getting a solid and stable 24mh/s with default settings.
I bought the 4GB version of the HIS RX470 IceQx2 Turbo to add in and have been having some problems ever since.
1) The temperatures went through the roof, hitting nearly 90c - the RX480 had been running at 70-73c all week.
2) What Claymore was reporting as the temperature of #GPU0 would conflict with the readings of my GPU's in TweakIt / Afterburner. Is Claymore's hardware detection reliable?
3) The hashrate bombed when I tried to adapt the fan settings to accommodate the high temperatures - from 24mh/s to 4mh/s. I'm now in this limbo state between reinstalling the drivers to get the stable hashrates, and not being able to tweak any settings because it kills the hashrates.
What precautions and steps does one need to take when adding a second different model of GPU to a system? Where can I read further on this? Based on this issue, would you think I have the aptitude to maintain a 6 GPU rig?
Any help would be super appreciated!
