Hello, I'm new to mining and just build a rig with 2xRX480.
I often turn off and on genoil's ethminer, because when I want to play a game I start ethminer on only one GPU, so that the other one can be used exclusively by the game. So I simply have to batch files: one starts ethminer on both GPUs and the other one only on the secondary one.
Honestly I don't understand any of the mathematical backgrounds of mining. That's why I have the following questions:
1. What is the proper way to shutdown ethminer? I simply close the terminal window that runs the batch file, but I wonder if that leaves the pool I use hanging wondering where I went. But maybe for mining servers that doesn't matter?
2. Do you lose a lot by frequently turning ethminer off and on? Let's say I need one minute to turn off and on, do I then only lose one minute of work or is there a considerable amount of time lost, because I cancelled the previous instance in the middle of a calculation that might not have been finished for another 10 minutes?
Thanks for your help.
