I hope my sincerity here will prevent this post from being deleted.
I have tried to dive into mining a few times over the past 2 years but the
learning curve is a little steep. Litecoin was my first venture and I haven't
been around a command prompt in 20 years, so I just sort of abandoned it.
Now I am jumping back in with Ethereum and find it a bit easier but I am still
a lost pup. An old pup but still lost.
Yes, I have read a lot but there are a lot of contradicting methods and philosophies out there.
I figured it would be best to describe exactly what I plan on doing and then let advice flow.
So, I have a ton of computers and I'm technical enough to accomplish this but need a push.
My test rig will be a 2500k machine with an incoming RX480 (8gb) card.
If I can get help to successfully mine, I will purchase more GPU's and add them to my
Ryzen 1800x machine.
For now I want to learn how to mine GPU mainly and possibly CPU as I will have a few idle CPU
cores and I just want to have both running, even though CPU mining is likely dead. Just
something to learn by.
I downloaded Ethereum Wallet and Mist... and that is about where I am stuck.
I created a wallet and read a lot about geth but I'm essentially stuck.
I "think" I got GPU mining to start last night but I was getting this : CUDA error: Cannot allocate big buffer for DAG
So I researched that and couldn't resolve it but... this was progress to me. I will receive my RX480 tomorrow
and I think those issues will be resolved.
So I guess I am asking for some one-on-one help. I have a lot of dumb questions but I'm capable of doing this.
Once I learn, I'll be good to go.
I don't know if it's allow but I can offer Ether as payment for help or maybe this community is welcoming and
my dumb questions will be greeted with answers and not wrath
I think I just need someone to tell me what miner to use, how to properly setup BAT files and tell me if I need to be
fooling with the command prompt as much as I am.
Be gentle...
Thank you
