Ubuntu or Windows for a 6 card r9 build ?

Is ubuntu still the prime choice for a six card build ? I'm considering placing one of my problematic rigs on a different os. Maybe even ubuntu with a gui ? But I remember issues with a 6 card setup w ubuntu gui..hate to say windows but the downtime is painful. Hate to have equipment rotting..my stuff needs to be running!!
